Liliana Leone and Luca Mazzari are graduates in architecture in Genoa, where they continue to live and work. In 1988 they opened their design workshop, Archifax associated architects and starting cooperation with the most important Italian furnishing companies, focusing on the design of furniture and exhibition spaces and their relative communication. They plan furniture for all major firms in the design sector and for the main companies of industrial design as Move, Berloni, Falegnami, Ciat, Fimes, Laurameroni, Nardi, Composit, Lema, Snaidero (for latter’s design the showroom in Los Angeles), they design containers, tables, chairs. They plan preparations for the main manifestations tied to the design, like the Hall of the piece of furniture of Milan, of Paris, Cologne and Moscow and realize places of production and show-room. They took part in the Young & Design International Ideas Competition organized by the Milan International Furniture Fair and where they take a special mention for their “Altomare” bed, designed for Fimes. They participate, on invitation, to the first Biennal one of the design of St. Etienne, introducing some prototypes of containers and beds produced from the Italian company called “La Falegnami”. Since 1997 they have been running the Spaziodellavolta Gallery inside their design studio. Here they organise exhibitions for internationally famous designers, artists and architects. They participate to competitions of architecture and design and in 2004 they won the first international competition to the redesign of “chair Chiavarina”. With the ” Led-Runner lamp”, they have won the international competition opened by the Belgian “Deltalight” for new concept of the LED lighting. They teach architecture design and communication in the Polytechnic School of Architecture in Genoa.
